Dry foods v wets
Vets are often asked what is better for a dog, dry foods or tinned wet foods. The answer is neither. They are both full (generally) of what a dog needs to function and grow. It is worth noting what is in them though.
The vitamin requirement for you is very different than from your dog but it is also very different from breed to breed and even differs depending on age. As a tip for you try and find a brand that is high in Omega 3 and Omega 6 because this boosts their immunity significantly and so helps them to avoid illness and you to avoid vet bills. And here is where the dry foods comes into its own, as its very much a man mad compound so it's more attuned to providing the vital nutritional requirements, having said that the wet foods are rich in these as well but perhaps less medicinal in their construction (i.e. there are good tins and bad tins).
One inarguable benefit is that dry foods are better for the dogs teeth and this is why all dogs should get some dry food some 3 times a week at least. If they refuse to eat the dry foods served it is sometimes an indication that they are having teeth or gum problems so it also acts as a good early warning system to any issues. Lastly it's also very convenient in that you just pour it out in a bowl and it's good to go, no chopping of mashing or messing with tin openers.
