Dogs eating grass
We all see our dogs eat some pretty disgusting stuff in day to day life, we won't go into detail on this as there's no need. You know what we mean.
One of the more bizarre things to see is your beloved pet occasionally chomping on grass. This can be an arresting and curious moment to the new owner as you struggle to work out if it's actually normal. Is it safe? And why oh why are they doing this? Dogs are natural meat eaters right?
Well yes and no is in fact the case. Our research shows that it was actually quite common and normal hundreds if years ago, before the times of Vets and vitamins, balances diet and numerous medications, dogs would routinely scoff a little of the green stuff usually on the same instinct as where their hunting mentality came from.
So here are a few questions that you may need answering.
Is it ok if I see them eating grass?
Yes, its fine, rabbits and numerous other animals live on it; it won't do them any harm at all.
In fact it's even a source of Iodine and it helps their digestive system.
Do all dogs eat grass then?
No, not at all do. It's not that common as most pet dogs grow up in well catered for environments and they know their next meal is not far away. So hunger solving instincts are not as much of a priority for them.
What if it makes my dog vomit?
In the case of cats they actually eat grass as a means to make themselves sick if they have digested something bad, this instinct is with dogs as well or though not as common. So if they do it too often to make themselves sick then take them straight to the vets.
