Overview

This breed, it is hard to believe, has a hunting heritage, not easy to assimilate when you consider its size and gait, but then they are excellent swimmers, runners and sniffers and are very easy to train. They are also very playful, good-natured and highly intelligent, so make natural companions, good with children.

Care and health

This an energetic active dog, its needs are essentially the same as the Toy poodle. so again make sure it has at least two 30 mins walks a day with regular access to a garden. The coats are high maintenance so brush them every day if you can. They are not a hearty breed despite their working past so they must live indoors.

History

All poodles stem from the Asian breed and arrived in Europe via the herders migrating west. Because of their high intelligence and trainability the French started using this breed as circus performers. They became so popular in France and this led to the common name of the French Poodle.
